I offer equine portraits; promotional photos of your stallion, stable, ranch or farm. I enjoy investing time before the shoot to become better acquainted with you and fully understanding your end goals of the photo session. During equine portraits the emphasis unless otherwise instructed is on you, your horse and the relationship between you both. Capturing your personality and bond with your horse is important to me and makes for a wonderful portrait.

Equine Portrait Tips:
Horse: To ensure you’re ready for the scheduled shoot it’s best to take care of any grooming or tack cleaning ahead of time. Also you’ll want to avoid overly bright rope leads unless you truly want it incorporated into the shot.
Clothing: Avoid large prints, overly bright colors, reflective fabric… simple is better. You want the focus to be on you, not your shirt.
Backgrounds: Some background can be taken out during proof production, however it’s best to choose an area that is clutter free. Again simple backgrounds or nature puts the focus where it should… on you and your horse.
Props: Cowboy hats, additional tack, flowers and other props are always welcome.
Posing: I shoot from a photojournalist point of view and make every effort to ensure you’re comfortable. The end product will look more natural and the true beauty of the relationship you have with your horse will show on film. If you do want certain poses, that is great too… if you’ve seen a favorite pose in the past I suggest bringing clippings from magazines, photos you’ve seen, etc to ensure we capture them to your liking. Also when it comes to specific poses if your horse is not trained for them, we may not get the shot. So if there is a pose you have your heart set on please practice ahead of time to avoid any disappointments.
